Frontmail emails the members of an organization when something needs attention. Billing and credit emails go to the owner, admins and members with the billing role; service emails go to the owner and admins. Members frozen after a downgrade don’t get them.

Most of these emails are always sent, because they concern money or emails that would otherwise be lost. The ones marked optional can be switched off per person in Settings → Notifications.

Subscription started, renewal (including billed overdraft), plan upgraded, downgrade scheduled and downgrade in effect (with the templates and members that will be or were frozen), cancellation (requested, or after failed payments), and payment failed with a link to update the card – repeated on day 3 and 6 of the 7-day grace period. None of these can be switched off.

Sign-in related emails (email verification, password reset, sign-in link, a sign-in from a new device, two-step verification turned on or off, email change), invitations to a team, data export ready and account deletion are always sent to the person they concern. The optional Getting started tips during the first week can be switched off.

The same events appear in the dashboard: the top bar shows the remaining credits and a red badge with the number of held messages, and banners warn about an email service that isn’t working, a failed payment or an unverified email address.
