Credit packs
A credit pack is a one-time purchase of credits that stay valid for several months. Packs are available on every plan, including Free, and are the easiest way to handle a seasonal peak – a campaign, the Christmas season, enrollment week – without upgrading for the whole year.

How packs work
Section titled “How packs work”- Credits are added immediately after payment as a separate pack grant with its own expiry date (purchase time + validity).
- Credits are consumed in expiry order: whatever expires first is used first; overdraft always last. Your monthly quota usually expires before a pack, so packs are only touched after the quota for the month is used up.
- Unused credits expire at the end of the validity period. You get an email 7 days and 1 day before a pack with remaining credits expires (you can switch it off in Settings → Notifications).
- Packs survive plan changes and cancellation – they stay valid until they expire.
- A purchase immediately releases the hold queue.
- If a pack payment is refunded, the refunded share of its credits is removed (each refund on its own). If it is disputed (chargeback), its unused credits are removed right away and restored – with the original expiry – if the dispute is decided in your favour.
Buying a pack
Section titled “Buying a pack”Owners and billing members buy packs in Billing → Buy credits by clicking Buy on a pack:
- With a saved card it is one click – the pack card says which card will be charged, and Frontmail charges it right away. If your bank asks for 3-D Secure, the confirmation opens in the dashboard. If the payment doesn’t go through, you see the reason and can choose Pay another way, which opens Stripe Checkout.
- Without a saved card you pay securely via Stripe Checkout. The card you use there is saved for later one-click purchases and auto top-up.
The credits usually appear within seconds (the dashboard shows Processing your payment… while it waits for the payment confirmation), and held messages are released automatically. Every purchase gets an invoice and a confirmation email (see Invoices and VAT).
To buy packs automatically when you run low, set up auto top-up.
Example: a seasonal shop
Section titled “Example: a seasonal shop”A shop sends about 2,000 emails a month, but 12,000 in November and December.
- Without packs: Pro all year (10,000 credits) – still not enough in the peak.
- With packs: Starter all year (3,000 credits/month) + one 25,000 pack bought in October (valid 6 months) covers the peak and the January returns.
